Life as a Senior Account Executive

Grace | Senior Account Executive | London, UK | 9/4/2023

Grace, based in London, UK, is a Senior Account Executive in our Global Marketing team. Here, she shares the key skills required in her job and what she enjoys most about her work.

What does a typical day look like in your role?

I work across a variety of therapy areas, including immunology, rheumatology, rare diseases, and respiratory, so I have the privilege of working on a range of different projects and tasks every day. My average day can involve anything from managing the status of deliverables to ensuring that every stream of work is running like a well-oiled machine, to connecting with clients to facilitate requests and ideas. I do all this while ensuring that each deliverable continues to align with the strategy to move things forward—I can say with confidence that I am never bored!

With that said, my day-to-day role is never the same, and each day brings its own unique set of challenges. I enjoy working in a busy environment—it means that I’m always stimulated and learning new things which keeps me engaged.

What is your favorite thing about being a Senior Account Executive?

Client Services isn’t for the faint-hearted. Working towards deadlines is crucial, so being part of a strong, collaborative team gives me immense satisfaction and the motivation needed to do it all again each day.

I am grateful to work in an industry that genuinely aims to help people, and an organization that always puts people and patients first. My role has also allowed me to work at congresses across the world, including cities like Atlanta, Madrid, and Amsterdam to name a few.

How would you describe your team environment?

Avalere Health provides a supportive and collaborative environment to work in. Everyone, and every team I’ve worked with has always been incredibly friendly, supportive, and resourceful. This isn’t limited to the work environment—even when we’re busy, we ensure to make time for some fun as well!

What does it take to succeed in your role?

With experience gained from recruiting in the industry, I thought I’d give healthcare communications a try myself.

My degree in Philosophy equipped me with the skills required for a Client Services role such as analytical thinking, persuasive writing and speaking, innovative questioning, and effective reasoning—and soft skills like active listening, curiosity, and having a collaborative mindset. All these skills are important for working across a range of accounts with teams across the globe that have different personalities.

With all that work, is there time for play?

In my spare time, I enjoy staying active and being outdoors, whether I’m running, practicing yoga, or playing tennis. I also love going out with my friends and making the most of what London has to offer. I spend my time off exploring new parts of the city and going to restaurants and bars. There’s always so much to do, and I feel very lucky to live and work in such a vibrant city!
