Avalere Health joins NBCUniversal’s The Care Collective to transform healthcare media
June 18, 2025
Avalere Health is proud to be named a charter partner in the groundbreaking NBCUniversal healthcare marketing platform The Care Collective, a collaboration that includes Digital Health Networks and global immunology company argenx. This innovative initiative is designed to transform how healthcare content reaches patients, ensuring that it is both meaningful and authentic.
The Care Collective will work with health and wellness brands to produce and distribute video content on topics such as disease-state education, the patient journey, innovation in healthcare, and access to leading experts and resources. These healthcare-focused human-interest topics will be presented in a variety of formats, such as feature documentaries, short films, unscripted series, audio, and interactive features.
One of the first projects in production is a new reality series, “Rare, Well Done,” created by Avalere Health in collaboration with argenx. The series is the first to bring the familiar makeover TV format to the world of rare disease, helping those who generally don’t have resources and support find useful and actionable ways to live more fully despite their condition. The first episode focuses on individuals with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), a rare autoimmune disease affecting muscle strength and mobility.
“We were looking for unique, impactful ways to help the rare disease community and we found inspiration in the authentic joy reality makeover shows bring,” said Gary Scheiner, Executive Creative Director at Avalere Health. “The format allows us to help individuals in deeply personal and meaningful ways while providing practical information that viewers can use in their own lives.” In each episode of Rare, Well Done, the Thrive Team, a handpicked squad of experts, visits a person living with a rare condition like CIDP to learn about their life and help them build specific skills they need to live a little more joyfully.
Sara Devine, VP of Media at Avalere Health added: “Rare, Well Done is the future of healthcare media. In a noisy landscape, high-quality content like this cuts through, fosters long-term engagement, and extends across platforms—from social media and live events to interactive tools.”
Rare, Well Done and other content from the Care Collective will be presented by NBCUniversal and NBCU Local on their media properties, which range from local TV stations, national multicast networks, free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels, local and regional news desktop and mobile sites, and mobile and OTT apps.
Amar Urhekar, CEO of Avalere Health, highlights the significance of this initiative: “The Care Collective is a fantastic opportunity to meet patients where they are with deeply meaningful and authentic content like Rare, Well Done. We’re delighted to partner with argenx on this opportunity to develop a bold new platform that reaches every patient, everywhere.”
