Marina Thornton supports health care organizations with research and analysis on a wide range of health policy issues. Before joining Avalere, Marina was a Presidential Management Fellow at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where she provided support for the Innovation Center's Enhancing Oncology Model by collaborating on strategies for shared learning among physician practices and facilitating alignment with commercial payers to expand value-based care. During graduate school, she was a health policy intern for the Senate Finance and Senate HELP Committees, contributing to research and analysis on Medicare, Medicaid, and public health issues. She tracked legislation relating to pharmacy benefit managers, price transparency, and Medicare payment updates, and drafted briefing materials for hearings and markups on pandemic preparedness, the President's budget, drug shortages, and physician payment and chronic care. She also interned at Families USA where she supported the policy team on a variety of Medicaid initiatives. Prior to graduate school, Marina worked at Envision Physician Services, supporting the integration and management of nationwide health care operations projects. Marina holds an MPH in health policy from the George Washington University and a BA in economics from Elon University.
